The signal is subtle
We pass just close enough to touch
No questions, no answers
We know by now to say enough
With only simple words
With only subtle turns
The things we feel alone for one another
There is a secret that we keep
I won't sleep if you won't sleep
Because tonight may be the last chance we'll be given
We are compelled to do what we must do
We are compelled to do what we have been forbidden
So I won't sleep if you won't sleep tonight

what a startling sprinkle of luck in (unfortunately, only) one night well, i know updates here are becoming more and more rare. but it's not because i'm lazy or don't have time. there just isn't anything interesting, or worth mentioning, these past few days. they've been dull, mundane, bleak. a total blur, if you can call it that.
until last night. last night, it was as if the angels gave in to my plea and granted me JUST one night of luck, and happiness. i managed to chat with my bro on MSN Messenger, because he hadn't been online for about a week already. he's usually on every night (that'd be daytime on his side in Sweden). and now i know why - he's been holidaying with a couple of friends in the French Riviera for the past 9 days. that lucky arse. nah, he's a nice guy... i'm just so jealous!!! and he said the folks there spend their money on boats like running water. he showed me one picture - and it was like 3 storeys high. no kidding! man... the boat we have in sweden is like a typical sailing boat, with no flash or glamour. uggh. but it's homely and cosy nonetheless. hee~.
then i also got to chat online with my friend in Japan. he's a 27 year old working with the US military, and he's off to Korea this Friday. haven't spoken to him for like a month. it's nice to hear from people after so long. reminisce.
then, the most amazing surprise happened. i know i said he HIGHLY won't be mentioned here again ever, but he called. he actually phoned me. it was Avief. at first hearing (because the background sounds were really noisy), i thought it was some wrong number dialled by some Bangladesh construction worker to his girlfriend. NO OFFENSE TO THEM. i mean it just sounded like that. i was almost about to piss the guy off. then he said (but still muffled), "Wani! it's me Avief Budi!"... "Avief? is that you?!"... "Ya!". i asked him if he got my letter i sent him and he said yes, plus he already replied and asked that i write back, once i receive his reply. we'll see how that goes. then he said he missed me. (hmm... i was very unsure of how to react to that, honestly. i missed him too, but not in the way i think he thinks. it's more like i can't vividly remember how he looks like, and i miss talking to him - that kind of 'miss him'.) so i just replied, "i miss you too", hoping he didn't take it the wrong way. then he said, "there was something i didn't tell you before you left... __________!" i'm going to leave that up to you to guess. i think you pretty much get the hint. and he kept on saying that throughout the short conversation (which was pretty much one-sided). the background was so noisy, it didn't help at all that he was speaking Bahasa Indonesia so fast, and i couldn't decipher a word he said. so out of politeness, i just said "Yes, uh-huh" to whatever he said. sooo lame and embarrassing.
last night was the night i managed to re-collect the memories i have with old contacts. be it family or friends. it was such a warm and fuzzy feeling inside to get to communicate with old-time people and catch up with them. i should do it more often. if only time permits me to do so.
and IF Lady Luck grants me another wish.
