The signal is subtle
We pass just close enough to touch
No questions, no answers
We know by now to say enough
With only simple words
With only subtle turns
The things we feel alone for one another
There is a secret that we keep
I won't sleep if you won't sleep
Because tonight may be the last chance we'll be given
We are compelled to do what we must do
We are compelled to do what we have been forbidden
So I won't sleep if you won't sleep tonight

BOOOORING!
anyone who has watched the recently released miami vice, please answer these questions of mine.
why do i rate this as the most borng movie i've ever watched? am i the only one who doesn't understand a single word or slang they say? maybe because it's not my kind of movie genre... or because the plot is just too draggy? maybe i'm really shallow... and somehow it proves my english is horrible? the only scene that saved watching such a torturous movie, was from the ambush of the trailer house till the end. and that's it. the last 15 or 20 minutes.
in a whole 2 hours and 25 minutes or so.
the only reason i stayed in the freezing cinema was for my baby, who wanted to watch it. if i rented it, i'd eject that stupid dvd out of my machine immediately.
worst date. worst.

beyond materialist
today's date has got to be THE best date i've ever had. ever.
no pretentious, extravagant gestures. no fancy high-class places. simple, cosy neighbourhood setting with a cosy bakery and 2 pet shops.
my baby surprised me by bringing me to see 2 pet shops that sold pure bred cats. omigosh. i went crazy, and i didn't want to leave. they had persians, british shorthairs, american shorthairs, scottish folds, ragdolls... you get the picture.
then lunch was at a quaint bakery that served delicious croques (pronounced 'croc'). with melted cheese atop crispy crusts, it was mouthwatering, even before a single bite. then their chocolate mousse was heavenly, but not too sweet that you get sick of it after a few bites. my baby had a brownie that was sinful. hee. the look on your face after gulfing it down was cute. :)
the neighbourhood reminded me of the area we used to live in back in KL. the cosy, welcoming semi-detached houses and the infrequent traffic made the place such a lovely place to stay in. it almost felt like we were really in malaysia.
if there's one thing i know, it'd be that the simplest things make us most content. ^_^
You scored as Cultural Creative. Cultural Creatives are probably the newest group to enter this realm. You are a modern thinker who tends to shy away from organized religion but still feels as if there is something greater than ourselves. You are very spiritual, even if you are not religious. Life has a meaning outside of the rational.
well, only a few days to go before fasting month dawns upon me once again.
so it's up to my own responsibility to gorge and binge this week, especially saturday, before sunday comes. sigh.
well, of course, it's a good time for detoxing and TRYING to lose a little wee bit of weight.
today, i had mcdonald's breakfast with my baby. that's my first dose of comfort food, since i couldn't start earlier due to some weird stomach flu-like symptoms.
fatty, sweet and calorie laden syrup dripping on 3 fluffy pancakes. of course i ate slowly just to test out how my stomach would react to it. and thank God, my stomach decided not to throw a tantrum in public today.
i think i can safely start gorging tomorrow, friday and yes, saturday. with a BIG lunch, and an even BIGGER and TASTIER DINNER. yummy yummy yum yum.
by the way, we're going to pick up our new kitten, princess, this saturday. she's a white kitten with tortoise shell coloured patches. sweet, pretty, cute thing.
altogether now... AAAWWWWWwwwwww.
we thought of renaming her 'laydee', but we decided that princess is okay too. anyways, we're so used to calling her princess, even though she's not officially ours yet!
in case you're wondering, we visited the cat show at expo a few weeks back and the cat welfare society had a booth there, featuring some cats they had for adoption. so yes, one thing led to another, and finally we decided on one. :)
can't wait for tigger to play with her. haha.
on another note, can't wait for me to play with a bear this weekend.^_-Friday, September 15, 2006
heart ACHE
a summary of how my day went:
woke up cold, and had a headache. no appetite for breakfast. rain, cold, wet. naseous at the bus stop. had to tell myself to take deep breaths because i didn't want to puke in front of everyone. got back results for 1st assignment: PASS of only 56%. felt cold the whole day. hungry, even after lunch. had a snack - after which i felt sleepy. slept on the bus ride home. got home and immediately plonked myself atv my desk to read through readings and notes, then do up essay plan. called the boy to destress, thinking he could be my rock. like always. thought WRONG. apparently, i raised my voice BECAUSE I WAS A BUNDLE OF NERVES, and he took it as i was telling him off.
then he didn't want to say a word, and instead wanted to change topic of discussion. just like that.
(i'm sorry for what i wrote here before. i was fuming mad. a mad woman.)Tuesday, September 12, 2006
deserved rest, even for a bit
my mom's gone for a few days to KL with my dad, and it feels REALLY good to have a break from the droning burden of her hovering around - even for a few days.
i got home today at around 4 p.m. and it felt uber good to just plonk myself on the bed and just pass out. a good 2 hours of sleep before a good relaxing shower. without any nagging or interferences.
i have no idea why i felt so tired today. it really felt as though i could just close my eyes and doze off at any time throughout the whole day. my eyelids were heavy and i was literally dragging myself EVERYWHERE today. even to lunch at Thai Express at Raffles City.
it's amazing how i managed to drag myself (again) to the National Library for research. pooey.
but today brought good news. :) my 3rd assignment in Media, Culture & Power, originally due on the 22nd September, has been postponed a whole week, till the 29th September. :D
what a relief! if not i would really not know how i am supposed to complete 3 assignments by one deadline.
and i will get to see my honey more than once this week. an achievement. like what he would describe me, "a happy, happy hamster."^_^Sunday, September 10, 2006
tolerance
if there's one thing i cannot ever bring up in front of my mom, it'd be health, or fitness or exercise. anything to do with keeping fit.
because some way or other, she'll bring some kind of blame to the table and point it to me.
for example: yesterday we were eating lunch at McDonald's and my sister mentioned RANDOMLY, "oh kakak (big sister), actually you can do gymnastics coz' you have a short body." in response i said, "yea, and short legs too." and my mom had to join in and say, "but she's bottom heavy." which i know is true, but doing a sport doesn't require a specific body type. people can TRAIN to achieve a body type if they really want it.
then my mom started to talk about a particular neighbour of ours who wakes up at 4.30 a.m. a few mornings a week just to cycle 84km to work. well, kudos to him. then came the insult, "yea, he's so disciplined and fit, unlike SOME PEOPLE who are still in bed at 4 a.m." she glared at me.
what the fuck??? if he wants to wake up at 4. 30 a.m. that's his bloody problem! since when should i do the same just because it's supposedly good for me? and hello? 84km? who in their sane mind would cycle that much if they've never done so in their life? that sort of thing needs training and discipline.
suddenly all the possible "you're-fat" insults were directed at me, and for what? for fuck's sake, i'm UP TILL 4 a.m. on some nights doing my fucking school work. i don't sleep late staying out getting wasted okay? and i sleep in because i CARE about my school work! i actually BOTHER to stay up and do it, and she bloody knows it. why the sudden sarcasm and insults?
FYI, i like my body, and i'm NOT fat. curvaceous, but not FAT. and i'm not in denial. it's true, I AM NOT FAT. why can't anyone see that???
better than some anorexic model or emancipated woman who thinks she's so hot. in fact these past few weeks i haven't been eating much because of stress and and an irritable bowel. and BECAUSE of that, i even LOST WEIGHT.
I CHECKED. what is everyone's obsession with fat (or supposedly FAT) people being ugly, outcasted or pariahs?
if there's anything to say, it'll be:
FEED THE MODELS.Saturday, September 09, 2006
dreary
i dread the week ahead. i actually HAVE to go to school every single day, just because SOME stooopid lecturers cancelled lessons last week, and are going to have make-up lessons on the days we DON'T have school. and i thought i could actually take that time to really do my work, and spread the load out evenly.
now i'm going to have to just cram everything in days, as always. unlucky, unlucky me.
well, on the brighter side, photos on my multiply site have been updated. :) ok, i will admit that the new photos aren't exactly a calm to the eyes, considering they're all about ME. but just in case you're curious enough. heh.
funny enough, i'm already thinking of what i want for Christmas AND my 21st birthday next year. dumb or plain bored? i think it's more of the latter.
and it's even dumbER of me to think of things that are waaaayyy out of my budget, even for myself. as if people are willing to get it for me. :-P
oh well, i shall just have to wait and see. hope this year comes to a good close. and the next will be far better than this.Wednesday, September 06, 2006
what a night... er, or morning!
well, now at 4.39 a.m., i've finally completed that damned psychology 'helping behaviour' poster!!!
i really thought i'd be done by 5 p.m. this (or rather, YESTERDAY) afternoon, but it was the editing that killed me! i overshot by hundreds of words, and spent the entire day trying to cut down on stuff which i thought was important. finally at 3 a.m. +, i gave up, and just pressed print. jeez. and to think i started to plonk my ass in front of the computer at noon. >.<
my baby's going to be up in roughly 15 minutes, and to think i was just talking to him about 5 hours ago. how time flies.
my baby, i miss him so much. :( stupid IMF.
the month i really need him, and that stupid IMF conveniently drops by. hmph! monday, monday, monday. grrrr.
just cannot wait till this month is OVER!Saturday, September 02, 2006
happy 17th month, baby
i know i was a bitch for saying 'NO' to You at the last minute, but i was uber pissed. and it was a decision i really, truly regret. i think for the whole of september, i will regret it.
it was an opportunity that i should have just grabbed, to spend time with You. shit. just thinking about it makes me want to slam my head against the wall.
how many chances do we have like tonight? not many at all. and i was so looking forward to seeing You, the entire evening. my mind and heart was set on that. and nothing else.
that was how bad i wanted it. and i still do. shit.shit.shit.shit.shit.
promise me monday? promise me.
anyway, baby, happy 17th month. i love You. and i really am sorry.

september hell
it's officially the 1st of september. and it's going to officially be my most hated month of 2006.
assignments are just piling up over my head, and i don't see any hope of me making it through without going insane.
today is the first deadline. but thank God, it's an online submission and i already completed it in the wee hours of this morning. but now, on to the stupid psychology poster.
i'm so screwed. even though i DID get around 8 hours of sleep, my eyes can barely open. even now. i think staring at the computer screen for one too many days consecutively has put me on the path to slow blindness.
wish i had an extra set of helping hands (and brains - since my juices aren't flowing very well) to do my work. sigh.
damn you, september. and through it all, looking at my calendar, i won't be seeing my baby for a little more than two weeks due to all this.
perfect.
