The signal is subtle
We pass just close enough to touch
No questions, no answers
We know by now to say enough
With only simple words
With only subtle turns
The things we feel alone for one another
There is a secret that we keep
I won't sleep if you won't sleep
Because tonight may be the last chance we'll be given
We are compelled to do what we must do
We are compelled to do what we have been forbidden
So I won't sleep if you won't sleep tonight

stop. listen.
think about it. because i have. even before watching this, i felt this way too. but this guy took the words right out of my mind.
and he's telling us to stop. and listen.
the rat can cook
ra-ta-too-ee. ratatouille.
when the posters for this movie first started popping up, i thought it was just another animated production, which would be some really children-friendly, parental-approved, all-wholesome G-rated shit.
and even after the trailer came out, i thought, "okay, i'll watch it, if someone paid for me, and if i'm going with somebody who's really dying to watch it/who's fun to watch a movie with".
turns out, i did get dragged into watching it. not by choice, but because, incidentally that day, we (the boy and i) got the timing screwed up for 'dead silence'. and ended up going with the rat.
thank God it was the best animated movie i've seen since 'finding nemo'.
the script is family-friendly, but it has adult essences within its context, which i think, makes it appealing to all ages. the food critic plays out a condescending superior that we adults love to hate (e.g. authority, government, our parents!). and the adorable rat... gosh.
it makes anyone start to believe they can do anything, if they really wanted to. cheesy (no pun intended!), but it works to the benefit of the character. the setting, which is in paris, of course, sets the tone and mood of the movie, so it instantly transports you to a place where you can leave all your worries behind. like on a mini holiday! yay!
it's got humour, wit, charisma, and i'm not talking about the rat! the movie has even gotten a 5 out of 5 stars rating from the life! section of the straits times. that's a first! i cried quite a few times because you just feel so much love and compassion for a mere tiny creature.
now when i see mice, i'll look at them differently. although i know it wasn't a MOUSE per se in the movie, i'm not about to say viva la RATS! yucky people, rats are. haha!
but i'll say this, 5 out of 5. :DWednesday, August 29, 2007
it's been some time
nothing much has happened since my 600th post. and i'm not too sure if that's a good or bad thing.
good because it gave me some time to myself, and i read loads more in the past few days than i have in the past few years.
bad because this place will be criticised as dead - and i know how annoying it is to go blog-hopping only to find out some people just can't be bothered to update their blogs *hint, hint* *cough, cough*.
this sunday will mark our 29th month together. i can only hope we can get through the weekend without any bickering and/or petty squabbles.
i have to comment though, i was psyched to see that blogger has outdone itself (yet again) by adding a video posting feature. finally! it's a bugger that it only accepts up to 100MB though. anyone knows how to shrink the size of a video file to 100MB or less, without having to cut out parts or compromising quality (okay, a little less quality is fine)? i'm dying to post my gwen stefani video clip! let me know. :)
and, according to perez hilton (famous celebrity gossip monger in hollywood, and friends to quite a few of them too), WENTWORTH MILLER IS GAY! it seems one of hilton's close gay friends had once dated the HOTTIE. although, his fellow co-star (who plays lincoln burrows - forgot his real name and can't be bothered to find out!) has talk of him (miller) having his eye on wooing a particular unknown female. hmm, this sounds juicy already.
i'm half hoping that miller really is gay, because if he is, then i wouldn't have to be so disappointed when he hooks up with some chick! he can date a guy anytime. hee.
but i guess, judging from his dark, brooding look and piercing eyes, it's no surprise if he's gay. hard to believe a straight guy can clean up after himself so deliciously well. swoons.
a little stressed. a little worried. but it never killed anyone. yet.

600th
this is the 600th post, and only 400 more to a thousand. sigh. unfortunately, it's not one of cheer or joy. but more of acceptance and revelation.
if there's one thing being in this (almost) 2 and a half years relationship has taught me, is selflessness. before this, i always had the attitude of naivety and perhaps even immaturity towards relationships. until now.
finally i found someone far more needy than me, and it's slapped me around enough to realise that i've got to be the one in charge now. no more whining, no more expecting the person to give in to you. no more nonsense. i used to think that my relationships would always encompass BOTH of us being truly happy. but now i know the heart-wrenching reality of the truth.
one of us has to make that sacrifice. and i've more than willingly worn my heart on my sleeve only to get it crushed. relentlessly. but that's the price i have to pay to make someone happy.
i no longer bother about what arrangements You wish to make pertaining work or Your personal life, because i know i will eventually have no say. so i've learnt to accept to respect Your judgement and only hope that You know what You're doing.
for me, the most important thing is seeing You happy. because You've made me realise that that's what Love is - seeing the fruits of your labour appear as a smile on your partner's face. it's not about wanting things (material or otherwise) from someone. it's about doing all that you can to make them happy.
i'd rather love and hurt all at the same time, knowing that i've made someone's day, than care about myself, knowing i'm fucking useless to everyone else.Monday, August 20, 2007
in limbo
i just had a thought. why should we all worship our 'individual Gods' when doing so causes us so much strife amongst mankind?
wars. terror. broken spirits. hate.
the whole basis of religion is faith and the belief that there's a higher being. our spiritual self is far more powerful when we believe in a greater good. and if this is so, i can only wish we all believed in God. just God. not plural.
i'm not advocating that people should desert their faiths or that it's less holy, but i just wish we could push aside our ego and see religion for the purity that it is. what difference does it make if i'm a muslim, you're a christian, and you're a buddhist, taoist, hindu and so on?
we all believe in a bigger entity that's greater than anything we could ever imagine. and with that, we should pray as one. because humanity's ignorance is their own downfall.
on another note, how do you react when someone tells you you've got suppressed anger and encourages you to go for counselling to save yourself? should you pray or question how the person looks at you so differently now?Wednesday, August 15, 2007
gwen stefani - sweet escape tour 2007
brilliant. exhilarating. breathless. 2 out of 3 of us pee-d in our undies (due to over-excitement).
if that doesn't even hint at how awesome last night was, all i can say is, you've got to be there to know what we're talking about. words just aren't enough. the best concert i've EVER attended. and i officially have the HOTS for gwen.
right after the concert, the 3 of us went to the backdoor entrance outside the stadium to catch a glimpse of gwen and her groupies leaving the venue. i felt like a teenager all over again. :D
after 20 minutes or so, she appeared all smiley. unfortunately, her appearance was brief, and she only stuck around long enough for people to ask for autographs. i was a ruler's length away from her! but she didn't tag me. shucks. oh well, i love you gwen, and chubby little kingston too. hee. lucky husband.
as you can see, she actually 'merged' with the audience and went up to those of us who had seats much further away from the stage, while singing 'Cool'. ohmygosh, she's so cool.
i cannot explain any further as to how it felt. it's just one exhilarating night that i'll never forget.for a (perhaps) more detailed description of just how awesome it was, click here to go to my girlfriend's blog and see more (!!!) pictures of the concert.
*note the last close-up picture of gwen! i took that when she appeared as she exited from the stadium. how much freaking closer can i get??!! *faints*
take me on tour with you gwen!!!

chew on it!
“As primal beings, men are not supposed to be monogamous. When people ask, ‘Do you believe in monogamy?’ Well, of course that’s what you want. But part of what I love about men is that it’s hard for them to be monogamous. Women, I think, need to spend more time understanding men than changing men. And vice versa.”
- Kate Hudson tells the new issue of Harper’s Bazaar
i think she's right. i lightbulb actually went off in my head when i was done reading her quote. this just might be the key to solving my relationship problems.
what's your take? :)Monday, August 13, 2007
far far belated wishes
i'm such an evil person. heartless. ignorant. forgetful.
to 2 very special ladies, who don't deserve even knowing that i exist, this is an extremely apologetic 21st birthday wish.
i'm really sorry i didn't wish you girls on time, or even a day late. shucks.
but judging from the posts that i read around, it must've been one hell of a good celebratory initiation into club21. happy belated birthday to rachel and veron, and hope your first legal year goes great! :)
24 more hours. glee.
gwen stefani
tomorrow night's the night.
singapore indoor stadium, 8 p.m. with my sister and nora. woots! been some time since i last attended a concert.
the most recent being fort minor. ahh, the joy of moshing. if i had a wish list of bands to make it to our shore, it'd be:
All-American Rejects My Chemical Romance Linkin Park (yes, i know. again. but i missed their last concert here, and those who went said it was hell GOOD!)
the one thing i don't get, is why did they make gwen's gig here a sitting one? they could've at least included a free-standing area! i think it'll look pretty pathetic and stupid to be sitting down when gwen's on-stage throwing herself around and jumping like a little monkey, when we just sit and gawk at her. or at least, sadly attempt to dance in our chairs. pfft.
if there was a free-standing area, that's where i'd want to be! there's something unexplainable about the experience of moshing. it's crowded, sweaty, HOT, crammed, squished... but the adrenaline rush from screaming your lungs out, torturing your eardrums and waving your arms in the air like a 5-year-old... is priceless.
trust me, it's like a drug. just like you, baby. :)Tuesday, August 07, 2007
leggings & hot pants
this is an announcement for a wee bit of help for my upcoming feature article assignment, due 3rd september 2007.
i have chosen to write on the current trend of leggings and hot pants (you know those super short shorts), and i need people to interview. of course, having a blog makes it easier, because i can just post my questions here, and you guys can answer them, in your own time, and if you wish to!
here goes:
1. Do you personally wear/have worn leggings and/or hot pants?
2. If yes, what do you usually pair them with (i.e. in terms of top, accessories, shoes, etc.)?
3. If no, what do you think about the comeback* of this trend?
4. What is your opinion of MEN wearing leggings**?
5. If a person (e.g. friend, girlfriend, sister, colleague, stranger, etc.) whose body type just doesn't suit wearing leggings or hot pants, will you tell them? Why?
*this trend existed wayyyy back in the 14th century. of course, it wasn't meant as a fashion statement back then - more for keeping warm during winters. then of course, in the 19th century, FLASHDANCE screened in 1984, and it was all the rave.
**more commonly, scottish men wear tights under their kilts. but recently, at the Marni's Men show during the Fall 2007 fashion Week, outfits with leggings designed solely for men were introduced.
you can post your responses in the tagboard, though i personally think it's a bit of a squeeze there. or you can e-mail me your answers, or even drop me a message on msn messenger. alternatively, if you have a blog that you know i read (if i don't read it or don't know the link, drop the link on my tagboard and i'll pop by your blog to check it out!), you can create a post with your answers. :) pass them on to your friends as well, but don't forget to include their full name, age and occupation. oh yeah, plus (naturally) permission from them to publish their words, should i choose to include them in my article.
any way you wish, i leave it up to you guys. :D but the help would be of great use! AND AND ANDif you have any connections with people in the fashion industry or know of people who do, please let me know! i can come up with another set of questions for them, and pass it on. it'll really help me dig deeper and get more meat for my feature story!
if you have (or have heard of) humourous encounters/anecdotes involving these fashion items, please share! it'll be nice to add new dimensions and lightheartedness into my story.
thanks in advance for all the help, and hope to see answers coming in soon. it would be great if i can have most of your replies in by the last weekend of august (25th-26th).
personally, only if you got it, flaunt it. if not, please don't burn my eyes.
my mane
today i let my hair breathe in all the various types of pollution and humidity, with the frizz and volume that it dances with, atop my head.
usually, i would wear a hairband to keep the monstrosity at bay. but today i felt that i should let it out for some 'fresh' air.
so i did.
and it blew all round my face, caressed my cheeks and neck and folded over itself. i got a few stares from people, some good, others... just plain weird.
i wish it wasn't abnormal to have thick, wavy, frizzy hair. even when i go to the salon for my regular trim, the hairdresser will never fail to make some remark that remotely borders on an insult or sarcasm about my mane.
i hate those women.
but it felt nice. for once. to let it all loose. my mane is me.
if only it could be tamed. but then again, i can't be either. :)Thursday, August 02, 2007
sweet misery
it (almost) accurately depicts what i'm feeling now. and will probably feel for a long time coming.
i think it's a beautiful track by the ever-talented ms. michelle branch.
enjoy. :)
missing you
happy 28th month, baby.
it's a real pity that we've hardly spoken for the past 2 days. mere 2-3 minute calls have sufficed, and although i try my utter best to keep thoughts of you at bay, there's always a lingering image of you somewhere in my mind.
sigh.
going through the motions is what i've been doing to keep time ticking away, without the pain. i know you won't read this, but i guess i just have to let everything out. somewhere, somehow.
to be completely honest, i had the most horrible dream a few nights ago. it involved me murdering someone (a fictitious female neighbour) and then cutting her into slices, in the wee hours of the morning. i dissected her into smaller chunks only because i was afraid she'd still be alive to tell of her gruesome death.
slice her to pieces... can you imagine? i even threw some of her bones out her window (why i did that, i'll never know).
oh yeah, i even mudered the rest of her family (i.e. parents and grandparents) before going to her bedroom, where she was. i showed no fear, no remorse, no disgust. i felt none, either.
missing you is terribly hard, though i lie to myself it's a piece of cake. but, of course, i will never, ever tell you that.
because you have a life. unlike me.
