The signal is subtle
We pass just close enough to touch
No questions, no answers
We know by now to say enough
With only simple words
With only subtle turns
The things we feel alone for one another
There is a secret that we keep
I won't sleep if you won't sleep
Because tonight may be the last chance we'll be given
We are compelled to do what we must do
We are compelled to do what we have been forbidden
So I won't sleep if you won't sleep tonight

halloween, 7 days early + nights in rodanthe
i've never really been one to 'celebrate' halloween, but when i saw some familiar faces up on facebook all dolled up in fanciful creature-like outfits, it got me a little excited. so, i thought the night safari would be a good choice. it's been ages since i went, plus, getting spooked in the midst of dense foliage... is as good as you can get with another commercial 'holiday'.
the halloween tram ride was kind of hilarious, because these 3 girls all dressed up were the most shaken up (ironically). it was amusing just hearing them squirm and whine and shriek right behind me - even when there really wasn't anything there. -_-
there was even an instance where a person dressed up donning the 'halloween mask' (from the movie) climbed onto the moving tram, and one of them starting screaming her lungs out and attempted to shove him off the tram with her flailing arms and high-kicks. hahaha! it was HIGH-larious. :)
other than thrills of the night, i also went to catch 'nights in rodanthe'. yes, that soppy romance movie which is based on the book, written by nicholas sparks (who awesomely gave us 'a walk to remember' and 'the notebook'). the start was a tad slow, because i was expecting a sob-fest. a little tug here and there at your heartstrings, and you start to feel why the story has to start off slow. the mechanics of the two star characters (played by richard gere and diane lane) begin as awkward and amusing, and you can't really help but smile to yourself how a middle-aged duo can still make romance seem like being in high school all over again.
glances are made, small talk is inevitable. even those cliched awakward silences all serve a purpose as the plot thickens into a storm of events (literally and figuratively). i shall not give too many details away, in case any of you wish to see it. however, the second half of the movie is where the beauty of sparks' literary novel really sparkles (bad joke, i know). the anguish, the turmoil, the bittersweet happiness. it's something we all can relate to, whether or not in exactly the same way.
so perhaps you won't end up in a fit of tears (like i ashamedly did), but i highly suspect it will leave you with an appreciation for the raw emotion that lane exudes and displays brilliantly, and how beautiful and heartbreaking a bond with a loved one can be.

1, 2, 3, 4
there's only... 1 thing 2 do 3 words 4 you...
"i love you"
there's only... 1 way 2 say, those 3 words and that's what i'll do...
"i love you".Sunday, October 19, 2008
a rough semester
it's ironic that this is supposed to be my last semester, and yet, it's the most screwed up one so far.
having to re-take another module, meaning a late graduation. failing a major essay worth 50% of my grade, for one of my modules. missing an online submission deadline because how in the freaking hell would i know that melbourne still has daylight savings (??!!). gone is 15% of another module.
i hate myself so much these days that i think somone out there is honestly cursing me to death. i haven't felt this much stress since the 'A' levels. honestly.
it's times like these i'm amazed at how i'm even qualified to take on a degree, with my level of daftness and idiocy. i really think i'm stupid.
oh well, at least i'm not like these other bastards who think they know who the hell obama is.
shame on their citizens. a downright shame.Saturday, October 11, 2008
unknown
things have been extremely rough these past week and a half.
what with me being sick, deadlines, my relationship and my personal issues.
not one has let up, so i've decided to take things into my own hand. since the loved boyfriend cannot emotionally be there to understand the frustration, stress and issues i have with him, i think it's better we cool things off (which is ironic, considering how heated things have been between us - bad joke, i know).
every phone call just ends in the 'blame game'. and i just end up in pathetic tears not even worth shedding.
so enough is enough. i don't know if this 'recess' will be indefinite, but i definitely need it. i need to clear up my head, and focus on myself.
i hate being in the position of self-pity, because we all know it's well, pathetic. i don't want to be in that spot ever again.
i've always believed in one thing, and that is, in spite of all who claim that they truly are "there for you" or "care for you", there's only one person you can always rely on:
YOURSELF.
no one owes you a damn thing. so i've decided to stop the self-loathing and self-pitying, and take care of me.Thursday, October 02, 2008
post-hari raya
this year it was extremely low key. covering only 5 houses, and getting home before 8 p.m. but i didn't mind at all. because this hari raya, my real daddy remembered me. and i'm still smiling inside.
unfortunately, i've been sick since hari raya eve and today my sore throat and fever morphed into a bout of diarrhoea. 5 times over a course of 4 hours. i honestly think it's stomach flu and not some run-of-the-mill food poisoning, because no one else suffered any side effects from binging yesterday - only me. :(
i'm feeling lethargic, a little cold (in this heat!) and sleepy. God knows how many hours i managed to squeeze in before i had to do marathons from my bed to the toilet seat and back. it was excruciating, and i can't remember when i've ever experienced such stomach pain while taking a dump.
oh well, another thing that made me really happy was that my nasser reassured my mom by telling her "don't worry, your daughters are safe with me". it's one of the sweetest things anyone has done/said about me (and my sis). thanks darling! me loves you!:D
in spite of it being a very quiet hari raya, it kind of meant a lot to me. and out of all the years, i've never felt more closer to a relative (i.e. nasser). it's really calming and it gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. i think i could get used to this.
thank you, kuzzie. and thank you, daddy. wherever you are, i will find you. one day.
