The signal is subtle
We pass just close enough to touch
No questions, no answers
We know by now to say enough
With only simple words
With only subtle turns
The things we feel alone for one another
There is a secret that we keep
I won't sleep if you won't sleep
Because tonight may be the last chance we'll be given
We are compelled to do what we must do
We are compelled to do what we have been forbidden
So I won't sleep if you won't sleep tonight

swamped by confusion
i wish it were that easy. i really wish it were. in my previous entry i mentioned that Avief called. yesterday afternoon, his letter finally came. i was a little nervous of what to expect after that phone call. but anyway, it was exactly what i dreaded.
maybe i should be flattered, but having to reject someone and let them down easily isn't something i would call exciting. in his letter he had this drawing of hearts and my name... it was like he was a stalker or something, but at least i know i'm safe here. the way he wrote his letter was almost obsessive but you can't help thinking how sweet he is, considering he thinks so highly of someone. pity that i feel nothing. it's flattering no doubt. which human being wouldn't feel high when someone's admiring you and complimenting you like he/she could never stop and just goes on and on and on?
i wrote back to him though. it's common courtesy. and i explained my position and what i felt about this friendship we have. it's purely Like. hey, the only thing i can truely say i LOVE about him, is his charm and his name, heheh. lame.
i don't know what else to do. i'll just have to let his "feelings" die out. i say "feelings" because i know he's just infatuated. i mean, i only knew him for barely a week, and we never knew each other well enough. how the HELL can he LOVE me?!
whoops... damn it. i slipped. well, now you know what he said, and what his letter is all about.
on a more non-dramatic note, i went to catch Michael Chiang's "Private Parts" at the Esplanade. (haha, i find that such a good pun) it was hilarious during the first half, before a 20-minute intermission. then it just went crashing down to sheer boredom and drag until the ending. the way the play ended was okay, but the way they presented it was pretty sluggish. hey, i dozed off like 3 times during the second half... i went with my mom and she even slept during the first half! for an adult to pay $87 (which was what she paid; i only had to fork out $45 for students' price), it was a total rip-off. and surprise, suprise... our dearly beloved Jamie Yeo plays a dumb chick who has no furnishing in her big helium-filled head. can she stop trying to prove what she really is and go for more intellectual roles? i mean she's already a mindless bimbo in "Daddy's Girls" on Channel 5, and now this? what's she trying to drive home?
special note to Lynns (if she reads this, that is): DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY - THAT'S THEBOTTOMLINE. (hey, but it's going to end after tomorrow anyway)
overall, i just have to this to say: why couldn't any of my previous boyfriends be as sweet and sincere as him? it really is a pity i have to let him down like that. he's so nice to me... but i already wrote back to him, "there's more to me than beauty and the one that you claim to
'love' ". maybe if he saw the real me, he would've stayed away in the first place.
