The signal is subtle
We pass just close enough to touch
No questions, no answers
We know by now to say enough
With only simple words
With only subtle turns
The things we feel alone for one another
There is a secret that we keep
I won't sleep if you won't sleep
Because tonight may be the last chance we'll be given
We are compelled to do what we must do
We are compelled to do what we have been forbidden
So I won't sleep if you won't sleep tonight

what's happened?
what's happened to us, my dear? it's the breaking away i fear. and in all this restlessness, it's your hold that i long in the darkness.
whatever we said that night, we both know it's just another fight, please don't take anything to heart, i can't think of falling apart.
i know i've been cold, odd, and it's become old, but i'm still here, for every smile and every tear.
i don't want this to drag on, as i sit here, a few hours to dawn, wishing i could nuzzle your neck, i want You here, plus a lasting peck.
can we please stop the fighting, sayang? i just want to revive what's been lost and start afresh. i won't pretend it's never happened, but let's use it to make things better.
i think we both know how much we need each other.
