The signal is subtle
We pass just close enough to touch
No questions, no answers
We know by now to say enough
With only simple words
With only subtle turns
The things we feel alone for one another
There is a secret that we keep
I won't sleep if you won't sleep
Because tonight may be the last chance we'll be given
We are compelled to do what we must do
We are compelled to do what we have been forbidden
So I won't sleep if you won't sleep tonight

a thought from the bowl
you know how they say the best place for inspiration (and reading your favourite magazine/novel/newspaper in privacy) is the toilet.
while nature takes its course, and your system cleanses itself of all the filth we consume, the funniest and weirdest ideas or memories can pop into one's mind. out of nowhere.
and today, while i was on the bowl, a thought came to me.
there goes a saying, "there is nothing to fear, but fear itself". and i thought about it. at first i didn't really quite get what it means. then i changed the words to much simpler english. "there is nothing to be scared of, but 'being scared of something' itself". is that right?
then, it hit me. wouldn't that make you more of a wuss? because if i read that phrase right, it would mean it's the worst thing to be afraid of being afraid.
that makes you detached from the normal human reaction to be afraid of something. which means you live in denial.
yes, technically, that is bad enough already. but correct me if i'm wrong - don't they always say that phrase in shows/movies when the hero chickens out halfway and has to pluck up courage? so it's supposed to be a moral booster?
i think it's more of a way to deal with fear in the most cowardly way. i'd like to think that acceptance and facing one's fear is the best remedy. not avoiding it, and pretending it isn't there.
whoever thought of that, must be one sad person. live your life in denial, why don't you.
but then again, to some extent, we all do. including me. because, sometimes, facing the truth hurts more than just pretending it was never there in the first place.
