The signal is subtle
We pass just close enough to touch
No questions, no answers
We know by now to say enough
With only simple words
With only subtle turns
The things we feel alone for one another
There is a secret that we keep
I won't sleep if you won't sleep
Because tonight may be the last chance we'll be given
We are compelled to do what we must do
We are compelled to do what we have been forbidden
So I won't sleep if you won't sleep tonight

absent-minded
thank you lynn, for reminding me about 2 categories of people in my Valentine's eve post i left out, namely the unrequited and secret admirers. :)
unrequited: just like the estranged group, this is a perfect opportunity for you to step up your game. if previous attempts have been futile, give it one last shot. make it big, surprising, unexpected and most of all, something that the person you love is sure to swoon over. even if all the hard work and sheer effort gets sucked into the drain after today, tell yourself 'you tried'. and that's what counts. not everyone will love you, but one day, keep faith that all the love you have to give will be reciprocated unselfishly and unconditionally.
secret admirers: well, there can be two types of secret admirers. one that has the admiree completely in the dark about their existence, and another that is probably a close friend of the admiree, but has only made subtle hints thus far. for the former, it will take more effort, i won't lie. because you are barely known to your admiree, she/he will have to make an assumption of what type of person you are just by the kind of effort you will put into impressing him/her. so EFFORT will be your FIRST IMPRESSION. this can be anything from something grand to something sweet and meaningful. or deep, if you're the "mysterious lover" sort. for those of you who are already on friendly terms with your admiree, simple. you already know what your admiree likes and dislikes, in terms of places, food, entertainment, people, etc. so play up to his/her fancy. if you and your admiree have already been good friends for some time, chances are they will appreciate whatever you do for them. the key here is to sweep them off their feet. and even if they are none too impressed with your extravagance, tell them you understand and being friends with them has been awesome anyways. don't beg them to give you another chance. that's pathetic. and if the friendship turns awkward or sour, give it time. it's only natural that confession of feelings will stir up some unwanted attention to unpaved territory (whatever that means).
so i hope this helps you feed your curiousity, lynnie. :) have a good valentine's day, to one and all.
in fact, i'm off to my date now. love, sigh.
