The signal is subtle
We pass just close enough to touch
No questions, no answers
We know by now to say enough
With only simple words
With only subtle turns
The things we feel alone for one another
There is a secret that we keep
I won't sleep if you won't sleep
Because tonight may be the last chance we'll be given
We are compelled to do what we must do
We are compelled to do what we have been forbidden
So I won't sleep if you won't sleep tonight

beowulf and lots more drama
let's start with the most obvious.
beowulf is, in search of of one good word, interesting.
at some points, it seems like a comic book brought to life. in others, it's like an old folk tale of foolish kings that once ruled with their instinctive urges within their loins. it's highly entertaining and it definitely kept my eyes rooted to the screen for the full 2 hours. there were rare weak moments, especially in dialogue, because every word spoken held so much power and force that it draws you into the plot. if you've watched 300, this is one movie you'll be pleased with. but don't expect as much gore because this movie dwells lots more on characters' dynamics within themselves and each other, as well as a bit of a taste of how angelina jolie would look in your bed... wet and naked. literally.
3.5 out of 5. :)
this weekend was almost a blur and definitely a tiring one as well. i wanted it to be a memorable last weekend together before i fly off this coming saturday night to tokyo, then the states. but alas, it was not meant to be anything but a long, tiring, angry blur. part of me thinks this 18 day-break away from everything here and him, will do me (and us) good. we just need time to be alone, by ourselves. but another part of me knows that i will miss him very badly. :(
our relationship has been especially hard on us both these past few weeks, and we absolutely have no idea why. or at least i don't. every single petty detail gets thrown out of proportion and it becomes a long, drawn-out cold war. emotionally, this is it for me. not to say i've given up, but i need to start taking care of myself. and this holiday will do me good. i hope.
yesterday i had my first taste of being an extra on the set of a television commercial (TVC). don't try to look out for it here - it's for a vietnamese motorbike. i can safely say, they literally pay you to do nothing. which is awesome by me, but it takes a hell lot of patience while waiting for the scenes where the extras come in!
reporting time was 7.20 a.m. (what an unGodly hour to even be awake at, considering it's my holiday!) at cavenagh bridge. we did the first scene there... and the next one was at... 5 p.m.! but we didn't know that, of course. so we waited... and waited... and ate... and drank... and TALKED (A FUCKING HELL LOT!)... and ate some more... some slept... while the other scenes where there were no extras were shot. and it rained just when it was time for lunch, so more sitting and chatting.
lunch became a 4 hour break! thankfully, the other extras were really nice people and we all got to know about each other amidst the downpour. i, for one, stuck with the guys. sorry, but the girls there were... just too fake, let's put it this way. they were all older than me, except for this malay guy, who's 21 too. so we laughed and ate and talked. and they smoked like chimneys. in fact, everyone did... from the crew, the models, to the extras... it was as though they were trying to burn the set down or something! it was extremely annoying, but i couldn't do anything except tolerate it for 12 hours. yucks!
$85 for 12 hours of rotting. okay, i guess. a bit of extra cash won't hurt anyone. it was definitely an experience for me, and a chance to meet other talents from my agency (create talents). and socialise.
today's another day of rotting. at home. with the luxury and privilege of clean, fresh air. :D
