The signal is subtle
We pass just close enough to touch
No questions, no answers
We know by now to say enough
With only simple words
With only subtle turns
The things we feel alone for one another
There is a secret that we keep
I won't sleep if you won't sleep
Because tonight may be the last chance we'll be given
We are compelled to do what we must do
We are compelled to do what we have been forbidden
So I won't sleep if you won't sleep tonight

halal wet towels
i don't usually read berita harian (the malay newspaper), but a tiny headline (which redirected me to page 5) caught my eye.
apparently out on the market now, are these wet towels that are MUIS-approved because they don't contain alcohol (or ethanol) and any other ingredient that may be derived from animals. this world has gone nuts!
firstly, you're not going to suck on that wet towel and ingest that bloody alcohol or possible animal "essence" are you?! secondly, if perfumes, toners and body sprays have alcohol, why in the world are you still using it?! thirdly, (and this is a purely personal opinion) some muslims today are so extreme, no wonder the world thinks we're a looney bunch of terrorists!
i don't think i can say enough to express how insane i think this new product is. no one has said that we can't have alcohol in products that we use on our body - only those we use in cooking and are planning to consume internally. of course, i'm a liberal muslim, because i don't believe in restricting yourself to limits set by religion just because "it says so".
if one feels strongly for a God/faith, then as long as there's commitment to worship, i think God/faith, being all-seeing/all-forgiving, would understand that we love Him/It. regardless of the way they worship (i'm not saying being promiscuous and drunk and all that shit counts).
the point is, what's next? halal baby wipes, halal facial wash (or aftershave, hairspray, etc.), halal paint remover... maybe even a halal version of surgical spirit, so that wounds and surgical operations can be done in a muslim-appropriate manner!!!
i really question the people who buy these products. aren't they slaves to their own beliefs?
