The signal is subtle
We pass just close enough to touch
No questions, no answers
We know by now to say enough
With only simple words
With only subtle turns
The things we feel alone for one another
There is a secret that we keep
I won't sleep if you won't sleep
Because tonight may be the last chance we'll be given
We are compelled to do what we must do
We are compelled to do what we have been forbidden
So I won't sleep if you won't sleep tonight

anti- or pro-feminist?
watched the latest bond film over the weekend, and it irked the shit out of me to see how anti-feminist it was. placing a (admittedly) hot chick next to bond for the sheer purpose of nothing, is so cliche and just doesn't click with the modern audience. to me, at least. maybe 10 years ago, movie goers cheered for bond to get the knickers off the ditzy, sultry female as quickly as possible, but last saturday afternoon, i was praying and hoping i won't have to witness such an overplayed and degrading replay of unarousing 'sheet-frolicking'.pfft.
i really wonder what significance she has in being by his side, other than merely living up to the 'classic' bond girl always sickeningly attached to bond's groin and lips wherever he lept and dove. in the end, (in this movie) they didn't end up in bed, so what other use is there for her? oh, yes, let her seek her own revenge.
erm, shouldn't that be another story altogether?let her star in her own movie or something. there were no fancy gadgets. no slick, suave lines from bond. no villain that was a mastery of his trade - in fact, quite pathetic when put next to the joker, honestly (taking over a country by controlling its water supply? C'MON! i'm sure there are things more evil than that!!!).
into the first 15 minutes of the movie, and i switched off, only looking forward to the explosive action sequences. that's it.
i'm aware they did not want to produce a run-of-the-mill bond movie, and this particular installment is a sequel to 'casino royale' - it's meant to be a continuation of what follows an hour after, in fact. however, it did not do any justice to the character and/or the legendary mark it's made for itself. it was sorely disappointing and just a whirl of confusion for me.
2.5 out of 5.
